Skylark designs and builds advanced Massive MIMO 5G/6G wireless platforms in Houston, TX, initially targeting last-mile rural broadband providers and private 5G networks for enterprises. With our current fixed-wireless products, internet service providers and wireless carriers can reach new customers and compete competitively for over $42 Bn in broadband infrastructure funds being spent in the next three years. We are raising new funding to scale production volumes and reduce production costs, as well as integrate native 5G mobile capabilities into our existing and future wireless platforms.

Problem statement

Skylark Wireless designs and manufactures next-generation wireless systems with an initial focus on bridging the digital divide. That is, over 21 million Americans in rural areas, and over 3 billion people worldwide, can not access broadband Internet, denying them critical education, commercial, and healthcare services. Skylark pioneered Massive MIMO, now a core 5G technology, and designed its software-defined radio (SDR) systems from the ground up for long-range high-speed non-line-of-sight communications in difficult terrain. Our radio innovations transform the economics of providing affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities, and unleash the full potential of Massive MIMO in fixed and mobile environments.

Traction information

Skylark has secured over $350M in broadband projects for its customers with over $120 M in projected sales over the next three years. Our 3rd-generation Faros wireless platform has secured $12M in R&D funding with first POC deployments of the new platform targeted Q2 2026.

In addition, Skylark's all-programmable Massive MIMO platforms are used in multiple 5G/6G testbeds, from the ARA Wireless Living Lab in rural Iowa to a $10 M USAF 5G spectrum sharing and interference avoidance prototype project deployed on Rice University campus. We have teamed with dozens of Fortune 500 companies to submit and win proposals utilizing our agile, fully-programmable FarosV2 radio platform, and continue to win future proposals and projects with our newest FarosV3 platform.

Skylark piloted production and unique "modular" FCC-certification of it's FarosV2 Massive MIMO base station for turnkey rural broadband networks and deployed with a few trial customers. It now targets scaling a new generation of Faros 3000-Series solutions covering 100's of thousands of unserved homes and businesses.

FCC Certification Issued for Skylark's Gen 2 UE

After year of sustained outdoor testing and iteration, Skylark has received official FCC certification of its 2nd Generation broadband UE device, certifying it for commercial use and sales that comply with FCC and CBRS operational requirements.

This represents a significant milestone for our team and product, in that we’ve developed, produced, and certified a commercial minimum viable product that can be purchased and deployed by any US-based customer. Product translation and production scaling are where many startups with significant hardware products trip up, yet our long history of hardware design and manufacturing, and skilled engineering team has served us well to achieve this milestone.

NTIA $10M Grant for Next-Generation Radio Platform Development

Skylark receives prestigious and highly competitive $10M non-dilutive development grant to develop our next generation of energy-efficient and scaled Massive MIMO radio platforms to bolster the competitiveness of the domestic RAN ecosystem.

The proposed project aims to integrate and scale a wholly new Software-Defined Radio (SDR) transceiver architecture, Eridan’s Direct Polar Switch-Mode Transmitter in Gallium Nitride (GaN), within a 5G NR Massive MIMO system prototype in order to rovide unprecedented power efficiency and transmitter linearity, both critical parameters and persistent challenges for creating small, affordable, and high-speed connectivity everywhere.

High power tune-ability, increased energy efficiency, and remarkable transmit linearity will unlock unprecedented rural coverage up to 10+ miles cell radius, addressing the affordable rural broadband challenge by offering more capacity over geographically expansive area with minimal infrastructure.

First Commercial Installation

Successfully kicked off our 11k household commercial deployment with Inland Cellular - oversaw installation of first systems on a grain elevator in Moscow, Idaho. Network integration and user testing in preparation for an accelerated rollout is now commencing!

May 2024

First Commercial Delivery

We delivered our first commercial systems to Inland Cellular, including both base station hardware and network management systems. These delivered systems will be installed in July and be serving commercial customers by the end of 2024!

November 2023

First Large Commercial Contract Executed: Inland Cellular

We executed our negotiated delivery contract to our first large-scale commercial customer for a $10M rural broadband deployment in Montana, winning through two open-bid processes against other major vendors based on the technical strength of our product and platform.

October 2023

Base Station FCC Certification Received!

Skylark’s first production Massive MIMO base station received FCC certification 2AS22-LUMACH2! This indicates that not only is the MVP complete, it is in production, meets regulatory and performance requirements, and can be legally sold in the United States.
