About Applied Bioplastics

Applied Bioplastics enables large plastic compounders to reduce their carbon and microplastic footprint while saving money. We are the first biocomposite that is less expensive than commodity plastic while maintaining or improving physical properties. Our solution integrates seamlessly with industry-standard equipment, creating new margins and superior moldability for a plastic industry demanding sustainability but needing financial incentive to change. We also offer biocomposite building material in-use for the last three years in the world's largest refugee camp, where it has proven to improve human health and wellbeing. We are currently in active trials for the United Nations and just received our second major order to build a new village. All materials created by Applied Bioplastics are dual-use. Founded June 2019.

Problem statement

We are solving the overconsumption of oil, the microplastics and carbon that are all associated with durable polymers, while avoiding and winning on the price problem presented by the cheapest, most useful material on the market: plastic.

Traction information

Revenue Generation: We became revenue-producing in year 2, a significant milestone in the materials science industry, and 6 years early compared to the average manufacturing deeptech firm.
Industry Engagement: Since January 2023, we’ve begun pilots and discussions with 5 major automotive OEMs, secured $63 million in LOIs, and licensed our IP to Rajiv Plastics, generating $5000 MRR with one customer and a 1600% rise in our Asia pipeline YoY.
