Douglas Dotan is the Founder and President of Pegwin, an innovative technology company. He is a leader of a team that provides sophisticated Digital Health IT solutions to significantly improve both patient care and value-based care margins by predicting and preventing harm before complications occur.
He is a passionate advocate for patient safety and an early pioneer in the field. His vision is to apply his unique experience, expertise and understanding of safety processes and the impact of human error to the world of healthcare. He obtained this knowledge from his many years as an air safety investigator and pilot in the Israel Air Force. Since 2000, he has applied these skills to develop tools which are proven to mitigate active threats associated with preventable patient harm, the 3rd leading cause of death in the US. In 2012, Douglas' team won the national AHRQ and the ONC (Office of the National Coordinator) Challenge 2.0 Award for Patient Safety software with the creation of the Purple Button mobile app.
By engaging healthcare staff through technology, he consistently works toward his goal of saving the many lives lost unnecessarily due to avoidable medical mistakes. With the knowledge of how to harness today’s technology (AI, machine learning, predictive analytics) and apply it to safety and risk management process systems, Douglas created Pegwin Insights, an enterprise digital health and data management platform with cloud-based applications capable of integrating every level of an organization to deliver real-time access to clinical tools for rounds, meaningful insights for quality improvement and data capture to streamline risk management functions.
