About South Florida ClimateReady Tech Hub

The South Florida ClimateReady Tech Hub, led by the Miami Dade County Office of Innovation and Economic Development, aims to advance its global leadership in sustainable and resilient infrastructure (SRI) solutions for the global climate crisis. Building off the region’s unique combination of resources such as its coastal and marine infrastructure, cluster of clean cement and energy efficiency building industries, and academic and research institutions, this Tech Hub will jumpstart SRI innovation by developing, commercializing, and scaling SRI technologies, focused on climate adaptation and mitigation.

Problem statement

The South Florida ClimateReady Tech Hub, led by the Miami Dade County Office of Innovation and Economic Development, addresses the urgent need for sustainable and resilient infrastructure (SRI) solutions to combat the global climate crisis. Leveraging the region's coastal and marine infrastructure, clean cement and energy efficiency industries, and academic institutions, the Tech Hub aims to develop, commercialize, and scale SRI technologies focused on climate adaptation and mitigation. With a $19 million grant, the Hub will implement projects to scale low-emission concrete technologies, establish inclusive workforce development programs, and foster collaboration across the climate and capital ecosystem. The Hub is dedicated to bridging systemic gaps by engaging underserved communities to ensure shared prosperity and improved climate outcomes.

Traction information

- $19M in EDA grant funding will be used to implement three major projects, including scaling advanced concrete technologies with reduced emissions.
- 23,000+ new jobs created by The ClimateReady Tech Hub, with at least 15,100 serving individuals from historically marginalized communities.
- $41B will be added to the region's GDP through the creation of these new jobs, with a mean salary of $83K.
